Dean Statement on Earth Day
April 22, 2008Today, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement recognizing the 38th annual Earth Day:
"This past weekend an estimated billion people participated in Earth Day celebrations around the world, raising awareness of the global warming crisis and encouraging all of us to be good stewards of the earth.
"It's this type of global awareness and activism that can really effect change. Despite opposition from Bush Republicans, Democrats have forged ahead taking steps to promote conservation and other clean and sustainable environmental policies.
"On Earth Day, we renew our pledge to take concrete steps to protect our environment. As we go about the important task of electing our next president, we owe it to future generations to elect a Democratic president to reverse the disastrous policies of the Bush Administration and refocus on green policies to protect the health of our planet."
